"We Can Only Be Said To Be Alive In Those Moments When Our Hearts Are Conscious Of Our Treasures."

Title: Quote by Thornton Wilder

I try to be a very grateful and thankful person on a daily basis.
God has blessed me with so many things in my life to be grateful for!
But we all have days, don't we?
The ones filled with "I need..." that are not needs at all, just wants.
Or one I commonly hear and have even said: "I'm so poor."

But do I need those new shoes?
Am I poor?

No.
I have a roof over my head.
Food in my stomach.
Clothes on my body & shoes on my feet.
Family and friends who love me.
And I can pay my bills.
After going to a worship service on Sunday where our Sunday School class helped provide food and then worshipped with some of the homeless, I realized that I am not grateful enough for all I have.

To help me focus on the things I have rather than the things I do not, I decided to start a gratitude journal.

I am keeping this little pretty beside my bed.
Every night I plan on writing one thing I am grateful for that day.

The biggest problem I'm running into?
Only picking one thing a day.
I say that is an amazing problem to have.

Do you have a gratitude journal?
How do you keep yourself focused on what you have?

You may not be legitimately poor, but it's always okay (and prob true) to say "I'm broke!!"

This is such a great idea!

I've decided to keep a (smash book) journal from my 28th until my 29th birthday, just to have some document of my life. After your post I'm seriously thinking about writing down what I'm grateful for every month :)

This is an awesome idea! I really need to do this. And I'd like to write down people to pray for every day too! Along with what all I'm grateful for!

That's crazy - I just started to get back into journal writing recently and one of my goals is to write at least one thing a day where I saw the hand of the Lord in my life (I imagine this is very similar to a gratitude journal since I am grateful for all of that). I think it's a great idea and I hope you keep it up :)
